Volunteers turned out May 6 in Fishkill to help
remove trash from the banks of the Fishkill Creek.
Here's a look at the results, based on a report by
Rick Oestrike, former chairman of the
Fishkill Creek Watershed Committee.

20
Volunteers who turned out for the day, including
watershed committee members, local students,
Scenic Hudson and members of the Fishkill Rotary,
whose president, Fred Cantor, organized the cleanup.

1
Length, in miles, of the shore that the volunteers
cleared, between routes 52 and 9.

21
Garbage bags full of small trash they filled.

8
Bags of yard waste.

18
Tires removed.

3
Pieces of bedding found: a waterbed,
mattress and bed frame.

1
Number of cars — or at least several important
pieces of that could make up a single car — that were
removed. The volunteers found a car transmission,
battery, bumper, door and part of an engine.
