Recorded by Ken Landreth (Playback starts after partial download.) This recording comes from the last week of October 1974 just after Ricky Skaggs joined the New South. Harry Sparks and I were making regular trips from Louisville on most weekends and I usually took a small hand-held Sony cassette recorder and just put it on the table in the bar. Ricky did not have a mandolin when he moved to Lexington and is playing Frank Godbey's Gibson F2. The band had been using pickups on their instruments for a couple of years but returned to playing acoustic almost immediately after Ricky joined the band (see Marty Godbey's book "Crowe on the Banjo" for more on these band changes). The band is still using pickups on this recording.
