Surviving V-22 Osprey - Tucson, Arizona, April 2000
The surviving V-22, which was ahead of the ill-fated Osprey.
We were taking a sightseing flight over Tucson.
As we taxied by, there was a crew working on the right nacelle.
The image quality is low since these images were captured from my Hi8 video footage.
On takeoff, we could see the long burned spot in the grass.
When we landed and walked over, I took this shot. A Sgt came over and courteously asked we take no close photos, but invited us to take a tour of the survivor!
The pilot/CWO gave us a complete tour, including sitting in the cockpit. He explained the refueling probe on the nose saved them from crashing into the ground when the explosion behind them pushed their tail up.
