TIPS TO MAKE YOUR STAY EASIER & MORE ENJOYABLE

ACCESS AIRPORTS

  • Orlando International: 1:30 to 2 hr. driving, South West of Flagler Airport
  • Jacksonville Airport: 1 hr. to 1:30 hr driving, North of Flagler Airport
  • Daytona Beach Airport: 30 minutes driving, South of Flagler Airport
Check with your travel agent. You might be able to get a good deal including a car.

TRANSPORTATION

As we mentioned above, you are probably better off renting a car while you book your airline. However, if your budget is very tight, you might want to consider taking the limousine/ cab from the airport, and use the Flagler County Public Transportation while here. It is not the most convenient way but it might help you save money. Given the fact that, at night, if you do not mind waiting, one of the instructor can drop you off at your hotel, it will cost you less than renting a car every day.

When you need a car, if you want to visit the area or shop for a day or two, you can rent one on the airport for as little as $15.00 per day during the weekend. Make sure you have a current driver's license, an ID (Passport for foreigner or something with a picture for US residents) and a credit card.

For sport oriented people, you can also rent a bicycle. Find some phone numbers & rates at the end of this sheet for all means of transportation.

LODGING

Enclosed is a list of Hotels/Motels in the area. There are also plenty of restaurants, anything from gourmet food to inexpensive fast food. There is also a restaurant on the airport. Most of the motels without a restaurant offer rooms with a small Kitchen so you can cook your own food. Check with them. Prices vary depending on the time of year: it is more expensive during special events such as The Daytona 500 in Mid February and Bike Week at the beginning of March and of course during Holidays such as Xmas, Easter, 4th of July and Thanksgiving. Always mention that you are with Mudry Aviation, sometimes, you get a discount.

Our Airport is only 10 minutes driving from the Beach and there are various parks for Kids within short distances. If you are an avid golfer, there are numerous golf Clubs within a few minutes from the airport. We also have a Chamber of Commerce www.flaglerpcchamber.org  located on the Airport where you can gather a lot of information about the Area.

We would like to point out that there are a lot of other activities on the airport:  Sea Plane instruction (Single and Twin), Skydiving school with tandem jumps, gyrocopters school and ultra lights..and also regular instruction.

If you are coming with your family and want to spend some time with them, let us know so we can arrange your schedule accordingly. For instance, we can try to schedule two flights in the morning to leave you the afternoon open, or schedule one early morning and one late in the afternoon to give you the middle of the day with your family.

To help you plan your vacations, let us point out a few more things: We do not recommend more than two flights per day with each flight being an average of .7 to .8 of an hour. Counting the preflight, brief, debrief and installation in the aircraft (Strapping on a parachute and 5 point harness takes a little longer than getting into a regular aircraft), you should count on about one and 1/2 hour to 2 hours per lesson. If you take 2 lessons per day, you want about 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours between each lesson to avoid being too tired for the second flight. Generally in Florida the mornings are the best time to fly, especially in the Summer, although sometimes we might have fog in the morning which will not clear until about noon. Therefore, it is hard to plan for the best time to fly, looking long ahead of time. However, we can generally guess from one day to the next. It is extremely rare that we cannot fly aerobatics at some point within each day.

Whether you are coming alone or with your family, whether you are coming to do 5 hours or 15, we want your stay to be enjoyable. So, please, do not hesitate to ask us questions.

Very sincerely,
Daniel, Montaine, Phil and Josh
